In our efforts to raise funds to erect a bronze statue in Stamford, CT of one of the most decorated infantrymen of World War II, Medal of Honor recipient Homer L. Wise, we gathered a great deal of resource materials about Medal of Honor recipients and the present day efforts of other memorial committees, authors and videographers across our nation who are also preserving their memory.
There are some exceptional websites on the Internet dedicated to these efforts but we noticed that there wasn’t a general news website or newsfeed that aggregated current news stories about Medal of Honor recipients in one place. We decided to create this website to serve that need.
We truly wish these outstanding men, whose “conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States” will never be forgotten.
Please enjoy this website and news source.
If you wish to contact us, with books, videos, and/or news suggestions and sources to add to Medal of Honor News please send an email to: h.l.wisememorial@gmail.com.
We will make every effort to review your submission in a timely manner.
Thank you,
James S. Vlasto, Executive Director
The Homer L. Wise Memorial Committee
Before journeying through these pages into the lives of these brave Americans whose unwavering courage in the face of certain death, gifted our country with the grace of freedom, please take a few moments to view the video below of our “forgotten” hero, Sgt. Homer L. Wise. Visit our website to learn more of his heroic actions (Sgt. Wise saved the lives of over a 1000 of his buddies) and if you can, help us preserve his memory for future generations.
